Membership

We’re excited to welcome new and returning members to our community! Below you’ll find everything you need to know about joining, renewing, and the different membership levels we offer.

Annual Membership Renewals
Membership subscriptions are due each year by 31st December.
Our Management Committee reviews and sets subscription fees for all membership types (except Honorary Life Members).

Types of Membership
We offer several membership options to suit all levels of experience:

  • Probationary Member
  • Annual Member
  • Approved Member
  • Honorary Life Member

Annual, Approved, and Honorary Life Members are full members and may vote at Annual and Extraordinary General Meetings.
Probationary Members are not eligible to vote.

Probationary Membership
All potential new members begin as Probationary Members unless otherwise approved.

Step 1 — Introductory Training (Beginners)
You’ll complete a friendly, structured introduction covering:

  1. Safety & Zeroing a Rifle Scope
  2. Aim Points
  3. Aim Point Verification
  4. Introduction to HFT

Step 2 — Supervised Range Use
After completing the instruction course, you may shoot on the Club range(s) under the supervision of a full member.

Step 3 — Becoming a Full Member
You’ll complete three full HFT course shoots as a probationary member with a different full member for each shoot with no less than two years standing in the club.

Once submitted, your signed application for membership will be reviewed by the Management Committe.

Once accepted as a full member, you’ll remain on probation for a further three shoots.

Experienced Shooters
At the discretion of the Management Committee, experienced shooters may skip the instruction course and move directly to the three-shoot probation period. After acceptance, the standard additional three-shoot probation still applies.

Joining the Club
Once your application is accepted, your annual subscription becomes due. After payment, your name is entered into the Club Register, and your membership officially begins.

Renewals
Members who do not pay their subscription by 31st December will automatically lose membership.
The Management Committee may reinstate lapsed members at its discretion after payment of outstanding fees.

Leaving the Club
If membership ends voluntarily or under Club byelaws, no refunds can be given. Members remain responsible for any outstanding fees at the time of termination.

Important Notice
Members must immediately inform the Secretary if any change in circumstances affects their authority or suitability to own, use, or possess firearms or ammunition.

Probation Extensions
The Management Committee may extend the probationary period or apply additional conditions when necessary.

Annual Member
An Annual Member is someone approved by the Management Committee and up to date with their membership fees.
If you are already a full member of another club, you may apply to become a full member here without completing a probationary period, subject to Committee approval.

Approved Member
Approved Members are trusted individuals appointed by the Management Committee to support Club operations – for example, helping with beginner inductions or acting as Range Officers. Approved Members are full members but do not sit on the Management Committee.

Honorary Life Member
Honorary Life Membership is a special recognition of outstanding service to the Club.
This honour is awarded only when at least two-thirds of the Management Committee supports the nomination. Honorary Life Members are not required to pay membership or range fees.
